Digital PR for AI Search

DIGITAL PR FOR AI SEARCH CHAPTERS

Chapter 3: The Link Was the Prize. The Paragraph Is the Prize Now.

For twenty years digital PR was judged by the link, and the words around the link were an afterthought. The machines have reversed that order completely. So Chapter 3 opens.

THE BOOK

Front cover of Digital PR for AI Search: How Earned Coverage Builds Brand Visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI. The artwork shows an illustrated stack of newspapers, the top one headed "Featured In" with publication wordmarks, linked to three tiles labelled ChatGPT, Google AI and Gemini, above the labels Earn Coverage, Build Authority and Third Party Corroboration and the byline AI James Dooley, Peter Jones, Paul Truscott and Ben Nicholls.

What does this chapter argue?

A model reads the paragraph and checks what it says against everything else it knows, so a bare link corroborates nothing and a linkless paragraph with three checkable facts corroborates all three. The link stops being the negotiation. A liftable paragraph names the brand exactly, says what it is and does in one sentence, carries a specific such as a figure, place, founder, date or outcome, and uses declarative sentences.

Journalists write the paragraph a brand makes easy to write, so the release, the pitch and the brand sheet should state the same facts in the same words. A linkless paragraph stating the canonical facts in a trusted publication is worth more, for AI visibility, than a followed link in a bare mention.
